Soft autumn light illuminates the colorful paint scheme of the Sopwith Camel at Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome. The Sopwith Camel was introduced by the Sopwith Aviation Company toward the end of 1917 to replace the Sopwith Pup. Due to the majority of its weight in the front, it was more difficult to handle than its predecessor, yet became one of the best known fighter aircraft of its time, downing more than any of the other Allied fighters of the Great War. One of two Sopwith Camel paintings completed in 2025, this one is currently on display in the American Aviation Artists exhibition at the National Museum of the Air Force in Dayton, Ohio until October, 2025.
