From reference photos provided by Coast Guard friends in Alaska, "Sitting Tight at Dutch" depicts two H60 Jayhawk helicopters waiting for the weather to clear in Dutch Harbor, Alaska. We lived in Kodiak for over 23 years, and our interaction with Coast Guard personnel offered numerous opportunities to create paintings of the aircraft, boats and their missions. As a member of the Coast Guard Art Program, several paintings have found their way into the permanent collection, while some were done for sale. "Sitting Tight at Dutch" is a framed original painting and I have not had prints made.
